Principles of Learning
  • Learning requires the active participation of the student.
  • People learn in a variety of ways and at different rates.
  • Learning is both an individual and a group process.
  • Learning is most effective when students reflect on the process of learning and set goals improvement.

In addition to these principles, British Columbia’s schools include young people of varied backgrounds, interests, abilities, and needs. Wherever appropriate, ways to meet these needs and to ensure equity and access for all learners have been integrated as much as possible into the learning outcomes and achievement indicators of the B.C. curriculum.
